Polin: 1,000 Years of Jewish Life in Poland
- Date: Wednesday, March 30, 2022
- Time: 9:30am–11:00am
Join Daniel Ehrlich, Keshet’s Educational Director and noted Shoah educator in exploring the following issues: How is it that medieval Poland welcomed Jews when almost every other country in Europe was massacring and/or expelling its Jews? How did Jewish life flourish in Poland for more than 1,000 years despite anti-Semitism? On the map it looks like many Jewish families came from what is today Ukraine. But they described themsleves as coming from Poland, Russia or the Austrian Empire – and not from Ukraine. Why is there so much confusion? Can we determine the truth about Poland vis-a-vis its Jews during the Shoah? What is happening in the Jewish community in Poland today?
